Tashlich in Montpelier
Tashlich in Montpelier with Beth Jacob Synagogue at the Rec Field
Tashlich is the practice of embodying teshuvah, repentance, the main focus of the High Holiday season… where we cast away “sins.” The ritual of Tashlich offers us the chance to recognize, feel in our bodies, and release ways in which we have missed the mark this year, both personally and collectively. Tashlich is an opportunity to ritualize and deepen our personal and collective commitments to justice in the coming year. And we set intentions to move forward differently.
We will be blowing shofars and will sing songs in English.
This service will be facilitated by Shaina and is in collaboration with Beth Jacob Synagogue. Register Here with L’Chaim Collective or here with Beth Jacob.
We’ll be hosting this repentance ritual near a body of water, reflecting on our right relationship with water especially in these years of flooding.
We will meet at the Montpelier Rec Field on Poolside Drive.
Kids: This event is outside and is appropriate for all ages.
Access Notes: There is a gazebo that can fit everyone in the event of rain. There is a portalet. There is wheelchair accessible parking. There are picnic tables and participants are encouraged to bring their favorite picnic blanket or camp chair. The gazebo is about 100 feet from parking and the bridge for the ritual is about 100 feet from the gazebo. There will be glutenous and gluten-free apple, nut and nut-free cake, apples, and honey provided and present.

It is the month of Tammuz in the Hebrew calendar, and as part of our gathering we will be making space to release some of the grief we are carrying in alignment with the Hebrew calendar. The opening hour is a chance for people to grab a cold drink, some snacks, and get to connect while doing some art & collaging. Our Havdallah ritual and singing will begin at 6pm, followed by one of our delicious and abundant potluck dinners. We'll share the address when you RSVP to either danielle@danielle-cohen.com OR jory.hearst@gmail.com. Hope to be with you soon!
Shabbat Dinner(s)!
Small July Shabbat Dinners at Jory's
Join a small-ish crew of us around Jory & Ali's dining room table in Burlington for Shabbat blessings and dinner. Bring a song, blessing, or prayer you want to share. We'll light candles, drink wine/grape delights, and call in other blessings folks want to share. I'll make challah because it's summer and I have time to let bread rise (amen!). Vegetarian dinner to follow: I'll make a main dish, and I'd be honored if you'd bring dessert, salad, or juice/wine to share. 8 person sign-up limit so we can fit around the table. I'll share my Burlington address (in the Old North End) a few days ahead of the event with those who have signed up! Sign-up here.
Note: We have heard the feedback that folks want more smaller spaces to connect AND that we all want more Friday night Shabbat offerings, so here's an attempt from a Core Team Member. Maybe you also want to offer to host something similar?! We'd love that!

Due to numbers expected, this event was moved from Jory's home to the Quaker Meetinghouse, where we hope to have enough space. It also is being pushed back to 5pm (not 5:30pm, as originally stated, to make time for some prayer ahead of our break fast meal.)
